Strandgatan 3 is a 215m² top floor apartment with beautiful wide ranging sea views into the Kvarken Archipelago. Originally built in 1914, this iconic building in Vaasa is a prime example of the Jugenstil period in Finland and is listed as a heritage building in Vaasa.
As architects we were tasked with modernising and renovating this historic gem while adhering to all current legislation and improving indoor air quality. We took great care in maximizing the sea views and secured permission to add a new large window to the modern kitchen and dining area, seamlessly blending old and new.
Our team’s experience in conservation architecture has allowed us to work closely with heritage departments in both the UK and Finland. With a passion for preserving and enhancing existing structures, we are dedicated to providing design services that conserve, update, and add new interest to our important built heritage. Strandgatan 3 stands as another example of our ability to combine the old with the new.
