Design and Planning Applications
We are committed to guiding you through every step of the planning process, starting from the initial concept and beyond. Our team will help you refine your ideas by presenting a range of options, including design sketches, imagery, and mood boards, and transforming them into planning drawings.
We will assist you in choosing the most suitable type of application for your project, ensuring that all the necessary information required by your local authority is included in our planning drawings package. This package can also include information for other required consents, such as listed building consent and conservation area consent and a Design and Access Statement.
Throughout the planning process, we can liaise with other consultants who may be involved in your project and our goal is to ensure that your project meets all regulatory requirements and that the planning process runs as smoothly as possible.
Building Regulations and Technical Design
Preparing for the build is an essential and thorough process that requires meticulous attention to detail. To anticipate all possible outcomes and minimize disruption throughout the project, we adhere to specific building regulations that outline how the building should be constructed and standards that need to be met.
Thanks to our experience designing and building in the UK and Finland we bring our knowledge and standards for buildings that can conserve energy and surpass UK Heat loss and ventilation requirements. To ensure technical accuracy, we produce detailed drawings, including sections highlighting construction build-up. These drawings can be accompanied by a “Schedule of Works” document that specifies the materials and methods to be used. Where structural calculations are required, we can engage a structural engineer on our client’s behalf who will perform the necessary calculations. We’re happy to obtain a quote and liaise with the engineer and any other consultants needed accordingly.
Contract Administration
Choosing the appropriate form of contract is essential in determining how your project will be delivered. The best procurement path and contract type can be identified by fully understanding the complexity of the project, which is something we, as architects, excel in. The choice of procurement path affects how the project is managed, and options range from design and build to management contracting, as well as the traditional route that utilizes contracts provided by RIBA, JCT, and NEC. By working together, we can strike a balance between time, cost, and quality by selecting the right contract for your project. Our expertise allows us to guide you through this process and ensure that your project is delivered to the highest standard.
Nordic Homes Delivery
In addition to our architectural services, we specialize in management contracting for the design and construction of new-build projects. We are at the forefront of timber frame prefabricated building in Finland. Our prefabricated homes are delivered to your site and finished to the highest standard of your choosing, using materials sourced from sustainably managed Finnish forests.
